(CNN) – One of the first decisions we make when planning a trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, can also be one of the most overwhelming: Where to stay?
With more than twenty Disney-operated resorts in the destination, there’s something for every family and budget. These are the best hotels in three categories: luxury, moderately priced, and budget.

1. Disney’s Contemporary Resort
The Contemporary has an appeal that no other can match, and we’re not even talking about the monorail that stops inside the main lobby. It is the only place from where you can access the Magic Kingdom on foot, something that is appreciated at night when you can’t stand another line, not even the one for the monorail.

The views from this modern-themed hotel can’t be matched either.
Try booking a park-side room for panoramic views of the Magic Kingdom and its nightly fireworks show, or if you’re staying elsewhere, it’s worth booking dinner at the California Grill restaurant on the top floor of the hotel, where the show’s soundtrack is played on the outside balcony for added effect.

The monorail station and open layout of the main lobby give this resort a somewhat chaotic feel, which is why it doesn’t appear high on our rankings, but thankfully that unrest doesn’t carry over to the guest rooms above.

2. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
As Disney World’s flagship resort, the Grand Floridian impresses from the moment, you arrive. Scents of green clover and aloe greet guests as they enter the spacious, Victorian-inspired lobby where, in the evenings, a jazz band plays from the balcony.
The Grand Floridian features amenities you won’t find at any other Disney World resort, from the yacht available for hourly rentals on Bay Lake to Victoria & Albert’s restaurant, the only AAA five-diamond rated restaurant in central Florida.
Just one stop from the Magic Kingdom monorail, the Grand Floridian’s luxuries come at a cost: They’re the highest standard fares at Disney World.

3. Disney’s BoardWalk Inn
A turn-of-the-century Atlantic City inspired one of Disney’s most adult-oriented hotels, the BoardWalk Inn and the adjoining BoardWalk filled with venues and restaurants. The theme is well-executed, except for the clown-shaped water slide and the anthropomorphic chairs in the common areas, which are a bit creepy.
The best thing about the BoardWalk Inn is its location, just steps from Epcot and within walking distance of Hollywood Studios. The resort’s restaurants are located on BoardWalk. But it can be a long walk from many rooms and is often packed with locals and other park visitors at night and on weekends.

One drawback is the lack of transportation alternatives. Unlike other luxury resorts that offer boat or monorail service, the only option here is Disney’s bus service, but its charm and relatively low cost more than make up for that drawback.
